Clos Marguerite

Clos Marguerite was founded by Jean-Charles and Marguerite and is located in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley. Clos Marguerite bought 10 hectares of bare land in 1998 and began planting Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir in 2000. Planting and an onside winery were completed in 2005.

Jean-Charles is a trained winemaker who studied in Bordeaux and additionally studied soil science in Belgium. Marguerite is involved in every aspect of Clos Marguerite, from vineyard work to sales and marketing. 

Meticulous vineyard management ensures Clos Marguerite produces high quality wines from their own grapes. They maintain low yields from each vine and harvest by hand. Grapes are brought to their winery in small buckets to ensure the fruit is of the highest quality. Also, Clos Marguerite complies with “Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand” practices. 

In addition to Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, Clos Marguerite also produces Rosé and Sparkling Wine. All of their wines are designed to compliment food, rather than overpower your palate. They are a small producer in Marlborough whose wines can outshine some of the big players!
