Bald Hills is located in the Bannockburn sub-region of Central Otago. The vineyard consists of 8.5 hectares: 6.5 hectares of Pinot Noir, 1 hectare each of Pinot Gris and Riesling. The first planting of vines was in 1997. Through the years, Bald Hills has established itself as a well respected Central Otago vineyard. The winemaker is now Pip Battley, following in the footsteps of other distinguished Central Otago winemakers such as Pete Bartle, Grant Taylor (Valli) and Christopher Keys (Gibbston Valley).
Bald Hills produces two Pinot Noirs: their Single Vineyard Pinot Noir from selected parcels designed to showcase the unique characteristics of their Bannockburn vineyard and their 3 Acres Pinot Noir. Their ‘Friends & Lovers Rosé ’ is a consistently well crafted Rosé and is sure to tickle the palate of anyone looking for a crisp Central Otago Rosé to enjoy during our beautiful summer days. Pip also crafts the Kirameki Pinot Gris (dry) and the Last Light Riesling (off dry), showcasing both the beauty of the vineyard and how well Central Otago can produce white wines as well as Pinot Noir.
