Eaton Wines is a small boutique business that was established in 2014 by Mike and Jo Eaton. These two are no strangers to the world of wine, previously Mike and Jo have created vineyards such as Clayvin, Clay Hills, Calrossie and even founded TerraVin Wines back in 1999. Mike has been heavily involved throughout the wine industry in New Zealand and even helped maintain vineyards for companies such as Cloudy Bay, Hunters and Allan Scott. Now on a new adventure, this family owned company is producing a small, but high quality range of wines.
Eaton Wines is able to select small amounts of grapes from exceptional sites throughout Marlborough and Nelson, these are hand-tended by Mike and his two sons Blake and Harrison. Each batch is small with a maximum of 1,200 bottles made of each wine, this creates unique characteristics for each of their wine styles. Thistle Hill vineyard is one location used to grow their grapes, this vineyard has a unique mineral rich soil that was once an ancient seafloor. The 2019 Thistle Hill Sauvignon Blanc wonderfully expresses these attributes by producing a distinctive flinty and mineral taste on the palate, followed by hints of citrus and grapefruit.
